Doing swallowing therapy with a patient who is on an NPO diet can feel confounding. How am I supposed to help someone eat and drink safely when they’re unsafe to eat or drink? Turns out, there’s plenty we can do to support our patients, increase their strength, and even get them on a PO diet again.
